Dr Tim Rankin established Bargo Surgery in 1985 after recognising the growing need for a dedicated local doctor. More than 40 years later, he remains the owner and practicing GP, continuing his long-standing commitment to the community.

Today, the practice cares for multiple generations of many local families — a testament to the trust, relationships, and continuity of care built over decades.

If you do not have a Medicare card fees will apply. For services outside of medicare please see our schedule of fees in the patient information section.

Home Visits- home visits are typically offered on a case-by-case basis, tailored to patients who are genuinely unable to attend a clinic due to serious illness or mobility constraints.

Laverty Pathology is situated behind our surgery. They are open Monday - Friday:7.30 am to 11.30 am.

​24 Holter monitor availble - We are able to fit and provide a 24 hour holter monitor to patients as requested by you GP. This is a bulk billed service.

Both provide after-hours, bulk-billed GP services, with operating hours from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturdays and 10 am to 2 pm on Sundays. Weekday telehealth is available from 6 pm to 9:30 pm.
Practice Policies
Appointments

To help us provide the best possible care to all our patients, appointments are required and should be booked in advance.
If you have an urgent medical concern, we will always do our best to see you as soon as possible. Please call our reception team so we can prioritise your care appropriately. While we are unable to offer routine walk-in appointments, we will always try to accommodate urgent situations where possible.
Longer consultations are available if required. Please advise reception when booking if you require extra time for:

We ask patients to arrive on time to avoid delays

Missed Appointments
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please provide at least 2 hours notice.
Repeated missed appointments without notice may result in:

A missed appointment fee
This helps us provide access to care for all patients.

Prescriptions
Patients are generally required to attend an appointment for repeat prescriptions.
Requests without an appointment may not be possible as safe prescribing requires regular clinical review.
Please allow adequate time before your medication runs out.
​
Referrals
All referrals require a consultation with your doctor as they must be clinically appropriate and current.
Backdating referrals is not permitted.

Test Results
Bargo Surgery is committed to ensuring patients receive their results in a timely and confidential manner.

Urgent or abnormal results - patients will be recalled to see the doctor

Results will NOT be given over the phone, patients are asked to make an appointment to discuss test results with their doctor.
We take your privacy seriously and ensure all results are handled according to confidentiality and privacy requirements

​Zero Tolerance
Zero Tolerance Policy Bargo Surgery has a zero tolerance policy toward aggressive or abusive behaviour. This includes: Verbal abuse Threatening behaviour Harassment of staff or patients Physical aggression Patients who engage in this behaviour may be asked to leave and future treatment may be withdrawn. We are committed to providing a safe environment for staff and patients.
